The DMC’s annual World DJ Championship competition brings together the world’s brightest DJ talents, vetted by a series of gruelling global heats. By doing so, DMC continues to host one of the most entertaining and jaw dropping shows you will ever witness. This year’s show is no different. In the 26th year of this prestigious competition, DMC is bigger than ever… Kicking off 2010’s UK events, the UK DJ Final and Battle For UK Supremacy takes place at the 02 Academy Islington on Thursday 15th July with the winners going head to head with the best in the world at the World DJ Championships on October 17th and 18th at KOKO. To become a DMC World Champion, DJs around the world use techniques such as scratching and cutting to manipulate turntables and vinyl in order to create their own musical arrangements, performing live in front of an enthusiastic audience filled with both the extremely knowledgeable DMC fans and lucky newcomers being initiated to this fantastic contest. Competing for the coveted place in the World Finals this year are the following talented folk: Mike L, Johnny 1 Move, Rasp, Loop Skywalker, Mr Eclipse, DJ Downlow, Killer Tomato and defending his title – Jeppa. Hip-Hop legends Dead Prez, hit London alongside top UK support provided by Sway, Akala and Skinnyman, plus DJ 279 spinning the tunes.

Dead Prez: The Atlanta based duo M1 and Stic Man have consistently produced music which enlightens and expresses concepts which are beyond the limited confines of the rap aesthetic. Expect to hear the classic joints, material off the latest mix-tape ‘Revolutionary but Gangsta Grillz’ and exclusive joints from their forthcoming album ‘Information Age’. The mix-tape features original tracks and remakes, including Drake - ‘Over’ and Jay Electronica - ‘Exhibit C’.

Ok people, I know it’s not Hip Hop, but every B-Boy ‘n’ B-Girl needs a little boogie in their soul – right?!
Well, introducing Throwbaak a new club night launching on Friday 30th July at Club Babalou in Brixton.

Playing 80’s Soul, Funk, Disco and Boogie – so think Cameo, Chaka Khan, James Brown, Luther Vandross and all round good vibes and you’ll get the picture. Definitely a night for the grown folk, so no young whipper snappers in sight!

With Choice FM DJs Dave VJ and DJ 279 on deck duties, you know this isn’t a night to be missed – so make sure you pass through with your comfy shoes to dance in and a Colgate smile.
